Lions Club Fish Fry and Carnival delivers on food, fun

The 68th annual Fish Fry and Carnival at Fairview Park in Costa Mesa continues through Sunday with live entertainment, games and rides to go along with the $10 fish dinners.

The fish — fried using a secret batter recipe — is accompanied by fries and coleslaw.

The community gathering, presented by the Costa Mesa-Newport Harbor Lions Club, is one of the city’s largest events. The three days of festivities, which started Friday, are expected to draw 15,000 to 20,000 people and provide up to 3,500 dinners.

Proceeds from the festival will benefit area schools, charities and clubs through Lions Clubs International. Over the years, the fish fry has raised more than $2 million for local organizations.
