The Chart House restaurant, which served steak and seafood on Mariner’s Mile in Newport Beach for more than four decades, has closed.

A manager at the Dana Point Chart House confirmed that the Newport Beach location recently shuttered but was unsure of why, referring calls to corporate headquarters.

Chart House is owned by Landry’s, a Houston-based restaurant chain that also owns several chains with Newport-Mesa location’s, including Morton’s The Steak House, Rainforest Cafe, Bubba Gump Shrimp and Claim Jumper. No one could be reached at corporate headquarters after business hours Thursday.

The Newport Chart House at 2801 W. Coast Hwy. was no longer listed on the chain’s website, and no one answered the phone there.

The Chart House opened in another location on Mariner’s Mile in 1968, moving to its current location in 1986, according to the Daily Pilot’s archives.
