Active Ride pop-up shop to open in Irvine
Active Ride Shop will open a pop-up location in a recycled shipping container at University Center in Irvine at 11 a.m. Friday.
Shoppers will be able to buy products such as apparel, accessories and skateboards.
The container will be delivered Monday to University Center, 4100 Campus Drive. From Tuesday through Thursday, local street artist Shark Toof will paint a mural on the container.

Lil’ Pickle owner honored by Orange Coast College
Orange Coast College has named Pete Bower, owner of the Lil’ Pickle sandwich shop in Costa Mesa, as Community Partner of the Year for 2014-15.
The college said Bower was chosen because of his support for several Orange Coast athletic teams in the 10 years he has owned Lil’ Pickle, a mainstay in the city since 1962.
Bower has financially supported the college’s golf, women’s basketball, softball, baseball, women’s crew and cheer and dance programs. His shop displays years’ worth of team photos from Orange Coast and many other local schools.
“I feel it’s important to be a part of the community,” he said in an OCC news release.
Bower has lived in the Costa Mesa/Newport Beach area for 20 years.

Meditation studio opens in Costa Mesa
Infinite You Meditation Studio has opened in Costa Mesa at 234 E. 17th St.
“In addition to individual classes, we offer group meditation, workshops and cultural events that help people learn how to enhance their well-being and join a community of like-minded people that already incorporates mindfulness in their everyday lives,” owner Lionela Torriero said in a statement.

French furniture store to move to new Costa Mesa location
Roche Bobois, a French furniture store founded in Paris in 1950, plans to move its Costa Mesa showroom to the South Coast Collection in June. The store, which will offer consultations, will be in an 8,200-square-foot space at 3309 Hyland Ave.

Empire Construction acquired by national firm
Irvine-based Empire Construction and Technologies Inc. has been acquired by Response Team 1, a national company that specializes in property restoration and renovation and disaster loss recovery.
Empire Construction specializes in residential and commercial restoration, offering 24-hour emergency response for fire or flood damage, water mitigation, abatement of mold, asbestos and lead and more.
“Response Team 1 offers us additional resources and expanded capabilities to better serve our customers, who include homeowners, business owners, property managers and insurance companies,” said Devin Lurie, president of Empire Construction.
Empire will retain its leadership, according to Response Team 1 Chairman John Goense.
Response Team 1 was on Inc. magazine’s list of the fastest-growing companies in America in 2014.
