Volcom to host skateboarding contest Saturday
The youth-culture brand Volcom will host a free skateboarding contest Saturday at its Westside Costa Mesa headquarters.
Registration will start at 10 a.m. and the contest at 11:30 a.m. It is expected to run for five or six hours.
The competition categories are ages 14 and under, 15 to 21 and open/amateur. Participants under 18 are required to bring a parent or guardian and a signed waiver. The form is available on Volcom’s website.
The top seven competitors from each category will qualify to compete at a global championship event in Los Angeles in October. The cash purse is $15,000.
Saturday’s contest begins Volcom’s 2015 Wild in the Parks tour, which includes stops in Colorado, Argentina and Canada to find the best talent in amateur skateboarding.
