Biz News: Irvine game developer hits 250 million downloads
MobilityWare Inc., an Irvine-based developer and publisher of mobile games, said its titles have achieved 250 million downloads and that Apple recently named MobilityWare’s Solitaire game one of the top 25 free iPad apps of all time.
MobilityWare’s games also include Spider Solitaire, FreeCell, Blackjack and Hangman.
The company, which is celebrating its 25th anniversary, also announced it is developing titles for Apple Watch and similar wearable Android devices.

Schwab honored for support of UCI Business School
Investment brokerage and financial services firm Charles Schwab was honored this month at UC Irvine for its support of the university’s Paul Merage School of Business. Schwab teamed with UCI in 2013 to create The Charles Schwab Trading & Technology Lab, which was completed this year and is now open to students.
The lab is equipped with state-of-the-art technology and trading software designed to mimic the environment and layout of a securities trading floor.
The facility includes the Schwab Performance Technologies PortfolioCenter, a widely used portfolio-management application, and access to the website used by Schwab investment advisors.

Yogasmoga apparel store coming to Fashion Island
Yogasmoga, a New York-based designer, manufacturer and retailer of yoga-inspired athletic apparel, plans to open a new store late this summer at Fashion Island in Newport Beach.
“We are planning an exciting retail concept to bring our high-quality, made-in-USA products to a new audience in Orange County,” Yogasmoga founder and Chief Executive Rishi Bali said in a statement.

Dental software developer donates to nonprofit
Irvine-based Planet DDS, a developer of practice-management software for dental professionals, made a $250,000 donation of its Denticon professional electronic dental record system and associated services to Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County, a nonprofit that provides oral health services to children.
“Denticon is the kind of technology that will make it possible for us to manage our operations more efficiently and broaden oral health access to more underserved children throughout our community,” Ria Berger, chief executive of Healthy Smiles for Kids of Orange County, said in a statement.
The software will help the organization streamline operations and services provided through its two mobile dental clinics and its Smile Clinic at Children’s Hospital of Orange County.
