Firefighters knock down apartment blaze
Costa Mesa firefighters quickly doused a small blaze outside an apartment Thursday morning, according to authorities.
About half a dozen units responded to a large housing complex in the 300 block of Victoria Street, where they found flames burning along the wall of an upstairs unit, Battalion Chief Kevin Diamond said.
Firefighters arrived shortly after 8 a.m. and had the blaze under control within about 10 minutes, Diamond said.
Most of the damage was contained to an area near an outdoor water heater, according to authorities.
Investigators are still working to determine what exactly sparked the fire and how much damage it caused, Diamond said.
