Gunman robs Newport Beach liquor store

A Newport Beach liquor store was robbed at gunpoint Tuesday night, police said.

A man entered Bay Court Liquor at 3601 Jamboree Road at about 10:05 p.m. and brandished a handgun, according to authorities.

Newport Beach police spokeswoman Jennifer Manzella said the robber demanded cash from a store employee, who handed over an undisclosed amount.

The robber fled in a car, Manzella said.

A description of the man wasn’t immediately available.
