Costa Mesa plans to go drought-tolerant
Costa Mesa is starting to replace ornamental turf on city property with drought-tolerant landscaping, according to a news release.
Officials said they want to reduce the amount of potable water used by the city as the state deals with a historic drought.
A public meeting about the turf removal program is set for 6 p.m. May 6 at City Hall, 77 Fair Drive.
The City Council recently approved funds to replace turf with drought-tolerant plants in the medians along Mesa Verde Drive and California Street.
