2 motorcyclists injured in Newport Coast crash
Two motorcyclists were injured in a late-night crash in Newport Coast on Wednesday, authorities said.
The motorcycles crashed on East Coast Highway near the entrance to Crystal Cove State Park at around 11:15 p.m., according to California Highway Patrol Officer Mike Schuman.
One of the riders suffered severe cuts and scrapes; the other suffered minor road rash, Schuman said.
Details about the cause of the wreck were not immediately available, but speed was a factor, Schuman said. Alcohol did not appear to be a factor, and neither rider was arrested or cited, Schuman said.
Officials briefly closed all eastbound lanes along a stretch of East Coast Highway while they investigated the crash, according to Newport Beach police.
