Biz News: Mariners to host job fair
Mariners Church in Irvine is hosting a job fair April 22 that is expected to draw more than 50 employers.
The free event goes from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Organizers said attendees will have the opportunity to interview and potentially gain employment in the same day.
“Here at Mariners, we strive to be in the community, for the community,” Jack West, care and recovery ministries pastor, said in a statement. “We’re looking forward to partnering with job seekers in exploring new possibilities and resources that align their career paths with their passions.”
A free workshop before the fair, from 10 a.m. to noon April 14, is also available. The session will provide guidance on common interview questions, nonverbal communication and avoiding interviewing mistakes.

Bixby buys former Kawasaki headquarters
Irvine real estate company Bixby Land Co. has purchased the former Kawasaki Motors Corp. USA headquarters building at 9950 Jeronimo Road for $44.25 million from Kawasaki, a Japan-based manufacturer of motorcycles and other vehicles and machinery.
Kawasaki will remain in the building as a tenant while Bixby completes a $20-million makeover on the 262,463 square-feet building with plans to turn it into offices for rent, according to a news release.
Bixby’s redesign of the building will include an interior corridor beneath a large glass canopy, a fitness center and an indoor-outdoor cafe. The design by architecture firm LPA also includes upgrades to the exterior facade.

Juice It Up! raises funds for muscular dystrophy
Irvine-based Juice It Up! teamed with customers to raise funds for the 33rd annual Muscular Dystrophy Assn. Shamrock program.
Juice It Up! helped raise $15,000 to benefit the MDA, according to a news release. Since becoming involved, the company has raised over $26,000 for the organization.
For the past two years, Juice It Up! has supported the MDA’s efforts in raising funds to provide life-enhancing programs to help those battling muscle disease.
This year, more than 70 Juice It Up! locations participated in a monthlong MDA Shamrock program, promoting shamrock donations to guests, with contributions going directly to the organization, the release states.
“Yet again, we are inspired by our employee and customer involvement and their enthusiasm to support such a worthy cause as the MDA,” said Director of Marketing Rachel Turney in the release.
