Sting nabs three drivers at Harbor Justice Center
Deputies impounded three cars and cited three drivers Monday for getting behind the wheel after they were told not to drive by a judge in Newport Beach.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Department periodically runs undercover stings at the Harbor Justice Center to catch unlicensed or suspended drivers ignoring driving bans while they’re facing charges of driving under the influence.
On Monday, deputies followed 14 suspects from their scheduled court dates to see if they would drive from the courthouse.
Three of them got behind the wheel either with a suspended license or without a license, according to a news release.
Those arrested could face jail time, longer license suspensions or other penalties, according to the Sheriff’s Department.
