The driver of a pickup fled after the truck slammed into a house in Costa Mesa on Sunday night, police said.

A Ford F-150 hit a parked car on Meyer Place just before 10 p.m. and the driver over-corrected, causing the truck to jump a curb, smash through a fence and hit a home in the 1900 block, according to police and fire officials. No one was injured, police said, and damage to the building was minimal, according to the Costa Mesa Fire Department.

The truck’s driver fled on foot, and police called in a helicopter from neighboring Huntington Beach to search for him, said Lt. Greg Scott, the Costa Mesa Police Department spokesman.

Officers detained a man found running along nearby Anaheim Avenue, but Scott said the man was wearing different clothing than the pickup driver, and witnesses couldn’t identify him as the person who had fled the crash scene. However, the man was arrested on suspicion of public intoxication, Scott said.

Officers contacted the truck’s registered owner, who told them she had no idea who had been driving the vehicle that night, police said.
