Suspicious fire burns half an acre in Talbert Regional Park
Fire crews quickly doused a small brush fire in Talbert Regional Park in Costa Mesa on Tuesday evening, according to authorities.
Investigators deemed the fire suspicious but haven’t determined a cause, Costa Mesa Fire Department Battalion Chief Bill Kershaw said.
The fire broke out around 4:45 p.m. in the southern portion of the park, and crews had the flames under control in just over an hour, Kershaw said.
The blaze burned about half an acre of medium to heavy brush, according to the Fire Department.
About 33 crews from Costa Mesa, Huntington Beach and the Orange County Fire Authority responded to the incident, Kershaw said.
County crews stayed to mop up the area, he said.
No injuries were reported.
