Folklorico students learn the business of dance
Students attending the third annual University Folklorico Summit got in some dancing time Sunday morning in the last workshop of the three-day conference at UC Irvine.
The summit is designed for leaders of collegiate folklorico — traditional Latin American dance — groups to learn and share practices and strategies for building and sustaining their organizations.
Last weekend’s event drew 25 participants from UCI, the University of San Diego, Cal State Long Beach, Cal State San Marcos, San Jose State, Cal State Fullerton, UC Santa Cruz, University of the Pacific, UC Riverside and Moreau Catholic High School in Hayward.
The conference was presented by Danzantes Unidos de California, a network of dancers and artists in Mexican folk culture.
