Officers arrested a parolee Thursday afternoon on suspicion of attacking another woman in a Costa Mesa parking lot two days earlier, police said.

Authorities allege that Stacy Overton, 37, of Costa Mesa threw a 64-year-old woman to the ground Tuesday morning at 2200 Harbor Blvd. and punched and kicked her in the face.

The attack left the woman with swelling on her face, but she declined medical attention, authorities said.

When officers arrived at the scene at 8 a.m., the assailant was gone. The woman later identified Overton as the attacker, police said.

Police said that when they interviewed Overton on Tuesday, she had a bruise on her face and told them the older woman had attacked her without warning.

.

After further investigation, police arrested Overton on Thursday near the scene of the incident, according to authorities. She is being held without bail on suspicion of felony battery and a parole violation, police said.

Police declined to release information about her parole. Orange County Sheriff’s Department jail records say Overton is unemployed.
