Organization recognizes Hoag nurses
The nursing staff at Hoag Hospital was recognized this month by a professional organization.
The February award marks the third time the Newport Beach hospital has been accepted as a Magnet facility, which recognizes excellence in nursing, according to a news release.
The award is given by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, whose aim is to promote excellence in nursing and health care through credentialing programs, according to its website.
Out of 6,000 healthcare organizations in the United States, only 406 are recognized as Magnet facilities.
Hoag was initially designated a Magnet hospital in 2005. Hospitals must reapply for the recognition every four years.
“Our achievement of this credential for an additional four years underscores the foundation of excellence and values that drives our entire staff to strive harder each day to meet the healthcare needs of the people we serve,” Robert T. Braithwaite, Hoag’s president and chief executive officer, said in a prepared statement.
