Jim Scott Stadium’s press box was damaged early Friday by a fire that melted the ceiling, authorities said.

Costa Mesa firefighters received a call at 12:09 a.m. about a fire at the Estancia High School venue, said Battalion Chief Tim Vasin.

Responding units extinguished flames that were burning a plastic folding table on top of the press box. The fire inflicted minimal damage to the box’s ceiling and it still is usable, Vasin said.
