City Council agrees to sue Lido group
Newport Beach plans to sue Lido Partners to resolve a disagreement over property access at the site of the old City Hall.
Lido Partners, the Via Lido Plaza property owner, claims to have an easement that allows it to cross the 3300 Newport Blvd. property from 32nd street to reach Via Lido Plaza, but the city disagrees, said City Attorney Aaron Harp.
Council members, with Mike Henn having recused himself, voted unanimously to initiate the litigation during a closed session Monday night.
The property under discussion is in the process of being converted to a 130-room hotel.
