LIGHT, Louise (Lou)
Lou passed into Heaven on December 24th in her Corona del Mar home. She had been fighting a two-year battle against brain cancer. Born November 28th, 1933 in Parowan, Utah to Ross and Nona Brown, Lou was the youngest of four siblings. Lou’s family moved to Southern California when she was three years old. Lou attended Mark Kepple High School and Fullerton Junior College. Subsequently, Lou worked in the Whittier School District.
In 1960, Lou married Jack Light at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, and the couple has lived in Corona del Mar since 1966.
Lou loved to travel and had seen many parts of the world. One of the trips that Lou enjoyed most was to South Africa, where she and Jack appreciated the beauty of the wild animals. Lou played tennis regularly at the Newport Beach Tennis Club, and was a member of numerous teams. Lou was also an excellent bridge player, and participated in tournaments with many bridge groups. As a member of the Assistance League, she helped provide dental care to those in need. Lou was also a member of the Santa Ana Country Club.
Her faith in God guided her life; she was a member of St. Andrews and regularly participated in worship services. Lou was actively involved in Bible Study programs and was a Stephens Minister.
Lou was known for her charitable nature, her keen sense of humor, and her loving spirit. Family was very important to Lou throughout her life; she was the matriarch of a very close family, remaining close to all family members. Lou is survived by her husband, four children, and seven grandchildren, whom she loved very much. Three of her children, Kelli Queen, Christian Light, and James Light, live locally, while her oldest daughter, Lynn McKendry, lives in Palm Desert. The family regularly gathered to celebrate special occasions, and loved vacationing together.
In lieu of flowers, the Light family requests that donations be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. Lou’s funeral service and burial were held privately.
