Leonard A. Beidle Jr., 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family in his home in Newport Beach, CA
He grew up in the Atwater district of Los Angeles and attended John Marshall High School. After high school, he enlisted into the Navy and spent three years in the service during World War II.
After an honorable discharge from the Navy, he married his high school sweetheart, Lillian Pomo. He soon entered Woodbury College and after graduation, he went to work for the accounting firm Lipscomb, Hahn, and Brown.
After a successful career as a public accountant, he was offered a position as a partner in the world famous, Nickodell Melrose Restaurant in Hollywood. The Nickodell was home to motion picture, television and radio personalities and even hosted the pregame meal for the Notre Dame University when they came out to play the Trojans of USC.
After retiring from the Nickodell, he and Lillian enjoyed living at the beach and getting together with the family, until Lillian’s passing. He remarried a few years later and traveled the world with his second wife Nancy.
Leonard had four children, Robert Beidle, Stephen Beidle (deceased), Michael Beidle (deceased), and Nancy Bonillas; seven grandchildren, Tim Beidle, Tom Beidle, Bryan Beidle, Patrick Beidle, Michael Bonillas, Peter Bonillas, and Sam Bonillas, as well as 8 ½ great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Dorothea.
Leonard will be remembered as a great father, husband, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and boss.
He loved being around his family and his family loved being loved by him, and sending their love back to him. We are blessed that his memory will be part of us forever.
A Vigil Service and Rosary will be held on Wednesday, February 18th at 7 PM at Pacific View Mortuary, 3500 Pacific View, Newport Beach. The funeral mass will be on Thursday, February 19th at 10 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 1441 W. Balboa Blvd., Newport Beach. Interment will be at Pacific View Cemetery, Newport Beach.
