Irmeli possessed an extraordinary zest for life, for culture, and for people. Born in Mannheim, Germany, Irmeli emigrated in 1938 and earned a degree in Art History from UC Berkeley. She married Bud Desenberg in 1941 and moved to Corona del Mar.

She was key to the creation of the Orange County Child Guidance Clinic. She was a passionate advocate for the arts and wrote a column in husband Bud’s weekly newspaper, the Laguna Beach Post. She taught Art History at Cal State Fullerton in the 1970’s and 80’s. She frequently led friends and others on tours of galleries and museums.

Irmeli assisted in the founding of the yearly Corona del Mar Baroque Music Festival. In her later years she volunteered at Share Our Selves in Costa Mesa.
