Charles Frederick Crone February 22, 1931 - February 19, 2014

Charles Frederick Crone, 82, of Newport Beach passed away on Wednesday February 19, 2014 with family by his
side after a bout with lung cancer and a stroke. He was born February 22, 1931 in Massillon Ohio to Edna and Paul Crone.
Charles went to Ohio Wesleyan University and then went on to medical school at Case Western Reserve where he
became a Doctor of Opthalmology. He served in the Air Force for two years as the eye doctor for two bases in 1962 and
1963. In 1964 he moved his family to Newport Beach where he had his practice and performed surgery at Hoag Hospital
for over three decades.
Charles is survived by his wife of 15 years, Maggie Dowell; Barbara Terrell Crone, the mother of his three children; Cathy
Sevel (Jim) of San Diego, Tom Crone (Rennette) of Newport Beach and Suzie Crone of San Diego; five grandchildren,
Jessica, Becky, Jordan, Riley, and Tommy; and his brother Robert Crone of Tucson.
Charles will always be remembered as a fine doctor, an excellent athlete and a good friend. He was a man who loved
life and traveled the world in his retirement. In lieu of flowers, send donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society in honor of
his wife, Maggie, whose positive spirit was a joy to him.
