Dolf Ballin, 87, a resident of Corona del Mar since 1973, passed away peacefully in his sleep and ascended to heaven early on March 2nd 2013 in his desert home. Dolf was born on September 14, 1925 in Indonesia, he met Annemaria in Germany in 1961 and they lived in India and Africa before moving to the US in 1972. In East Africa Dolf built the first US tire manufacturing plant and was the Chairman of Firestone East Africa. During this time, Dolf and Annemaria hosted many dignitaries and world leaders. After moving to the States Dolf joined AMF and later was President of the aerospace company Vard Newport in Santa Ana Ca. Dolf’s life and international business career spanned 5 decades and over 4 continents. He spent the last 25 years with Fletcher Jones Motor Cars in Newport Beach, where he remained their Senior Ambassador.
Dolf was an eternal optimist. He always had a smile on his radiant face. There was never a problem which could not be solved or a person who could not be helped. He loved his family above all, music calmed his soul, cars brought excitement, travel took him all over the world, and international affairs were of great interest to him. His kind heart and generosity will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Dolf is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Dr. Annemaria Ballin, sons Markus and Christof and daughter Patricia Korbler; daughter-in-law Janet and son-in-law Walter Korbler and grandchildren Francesco & Elisabetta Impagliazzo, Wally Korbler and Andreas; and many relatives around the world.
A Celebration of his life will be held on Friday March 15th at 11am at Saint Michael & All Angels Episcopal Parish Church 3233 Pacific View Drive Corona del Mar, CA 949.644.0463.
