The flooded Neiman Marcus store at Fashion Island may reopen by the end of the week, but repairs could take a little longer, store managers said Tuesday.

The upscale retailer closed on Sunday after a sprinkler valve malfunctioned, flooding parts of the store, said spokeswoman Michaele Hall.

The extent and cost of the damage are not yet known.

Hall also was unable to say how often the store sprinklers are serviced.

In an e-mail to the Daily Pilot, spokeswoman Mackay Boynton wrote that the store is expected to open around the end of the week. Hall said that there isn’t yet an exact date.

“The store will open again as soon as can to provide a safe and comfortable shopping environment for customers,” Hall said.

Store representatives will provide updates as they become available, she said.
