Company enters revenue-sharing deal
Newport Beach-based Acacia Research Corp. announced Monday that one of its subsidiaries, Celltrace LLC, has entered into a license deal with U.S. Cellular Corp. that covers technology relating to the use of short messaging in cellular telephony, according to a news release from Acacia.
Acacia’s subsidiaries develop partnerships with inventors and patent owners, license the patents to corporate users, then share the revenue, the release said.
On Sept. 13, another of Acacia’s subsidiaries, Software Restore Solutions LLC, announced it had entered into a license agreement with the International Business Machines Corp. The agreement relates to patents on automatic repair functionality for software applications. The agreement between Software Restore Solutions and IBM resolves litigation pending in Illinois, the release said.
