Zoning code vote postponed

NEWPORT BEACH — Planning commissioners postponed the vote for an updated Newport Beach zoning code Tuesday night because four of the six of the commissioners were absent. The next scheduled meeting is Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at City Hall, 3300 Newport Blvd.

The update would create new restrictions on the size and configurations of future homes. It also would implement landscaping, noise and parking standards, among other changes.

If the Planning Commission approves the draft changes at the Thursday meeting, the City Council will consider the measures. Planning Director David Lepo anticipates that the council will address it in September. Residents will then have another chance to voice concerns.
