Portion of Back Bay Drive closing next week

A portion of Back Bay Drive will be closed to vehicles Monday through Thursday as the city performs maintenance on a nearby wastewater pump.

Only bicyclists and pedestrians will be allowed on the stretch between San Joaquin Hills Road and Eastbluff Drive from 7 a.m. Monday until 4:30 p.m. Thursday, according to a city notice.

The city is rehabilitating the pump station on Back Bay Drive, about one mile north of San Joaquin Hills Road. A contractor plans to replace the station’s electrical equipment, then install a back-up generator and a temporary wastewater bypass system.
