Mansoor welcomes constituents to Costa Mesa office

Constituents and political allies packed Assemblyman Allan Mansoor’s Costa Mesa office with questions and donations as part of an open house Wednesday night.

The event invited new and old constituents to meet Mansoor and leave donations for Orange County’s Second Harvest Food Bank in Irvine.

As part of statewide redistricting last year, the Costa Mesa Republican’s purview was redrawn to stretch from Huntington Beach through Irvine and Laguna Beach.

“When they split Huntington Beach essentially right down the middle one of the best things that could have happened to us is to pick up Allan to represent my home as well as the homes of all of our neighbors,” former Huntington Beach mayor Don Hansen said at the open house.

The new 74th District also encompasses about two-thirds of Irvine, Mansoor’s staff reminded the city’s mayor Steven Choi who showed up to congratulate Mansoor.

“Two-thirds? ‘I’ll have to do some math on that,’” Choi joked, having said it was about half.

Bins outside the office also collected baby care items like diapers and wipes for the OC Children and Families Commission Essentials for Young Lives drive that’s gathering donations for homeless mothers.

“Please make sure you use us as a resource. We’re here to serve you,” Mansoor told the crowd. “If any issues every come up, legislative local or state, please use us as a resource.”
