Costa Mesa Planning Commissioner Edward Salcedo announced his resignation during Monday’s meeting, citing personal and business reasons.

“I’ve had a wonderful time working with these commissioners,” Salcedo said in his brief remarks that also thanked city staff. “They’re all great guys and a great commission.”

Salcedo, president of GCAP Services, a Costa Mesa-based professional consulting firm, was appointed by the City Council to the post in January 2011. His term was set to expire in February 2015.

Salcedo’s departure brings the number of open seats on the commission to three. Thirteen applicants, including two incumbents, are vying for the positions, two of which are for four-year terms.

The council on Tuesday night was expected to fill openings on both the Planning and Parks and Recreation commissions.
