Local nonprofit seeks donations, volunteers
Newport Beach nonprofit Karma Camp is seeking donations and volunteers to help serve struggling members of the community.
Karma Camp helps provide mentoring and counseling programs, labor for reconstruction projects and disaster-relief assistance. They also organize meals for local homeless men, women and families, a news release said.
The nonprofit fed 352 at its first Christmas Potluck Celebration for the Homeless in Santa Ana, the release said. Volunteers brought homemade dishes, such as tamales, fruit and baked goods. Karma Camp provided clothes and blankets.
According to the release, Karma Camp will be launching a Mobilized Outreach Program early in 2013, which will consist of a mobile unit to provide showers, washers and dryers, and other resources for county residents in need.
