Volunteers clear trash at Aliso Beach Park for Coastal Cleanup Day
Volunteers collected trash Saturday morning at Aliso Beach Park as part of the state’s 31st Coastal Cleanup Day.
Every year, on the third Saturday in September, people gather at sites throughout California to participate in the state’s largest volunteer event, according to the California Coastal Commission website.
In 2014, nearly 67,000 volunteers removed more than 1 million pounds of trash and recyclables from California’s beaches, lakes and waterways.
Details of this year’s event were not available as of Monday afternoon.
