Soroptimist club honors Laguna resident

Soroptimist International of Laguna Beach selected city resident Sandy Vetter as the Soroptimist of the Year, according to a news release.

Vetter is the organization’s treasurer, and she has held several board positions. With the honor, Vetter is now a member of the organization’s Laurel Society, which recognizes outstanding women and girls.

Vetter’s many contributions include leading the Women of the Wells fundraiser, which helped bring drinking water to remote areas of India, and co-chairing a fundraiser for the Colombo-American Education Foundation. The foundation provides money to educate poor children in Colombia, according to the organization’s website.

Soroptimist International of Laguna Beach, founded in 1948, is a volunteer organization for business and professional women dedicated to improving the lives of women and girls.
