Memorial Day: Laguna remembers with traditions

Laguna Beach marked Memorial Day with pancakes and a speech from Orange County District 5 Supervisor Lisa Bartlett Monday at Heisler Park.

Firefighters and police flipped flapjacks — an annual tradition — beginning at 7 a.m. for Laguna Beach Exchange Club’s largest fundraiser of the year.

Proceeds are donated to child abuse prevention, as well as community and youth projects.

Bartlett, elected last fall, then spoke during the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars’ annual Memorial Day service.
