Fund created in name of former mayor
The Laguna Beach Community Foundation recently created a memorial fund in honor of former Mayor Kathleen Blackburn.
The foundation, which links donors with nonprofits, established it as the Kathleen Blackburn’s Laguna Fund.
Blackburn’s husband, Bill, contributed $100,000.
“This fund is designed to help local causes and individuals in need — those who Kathleen cared about most,” foundation board member Donnie Crevier said in a news release.
Blackburn, 71, died March 16 from complications related to a car accident 34 years ago.
She served on the City Council from 1992 to 2000 and before that was on the Planning Commission.
Contributions can be made to the Laguna Beach Community Foundation (Attn: Kathleen Blackburn’s Laguna Fund), 303 Broadway St., Suite 212, Laguna Beach, 92651.
