Water district offers scholarship opportunity
The South Coast Water District, which serves portions of South Laguna, is accepting scholarship applications from high school students headed to college, according to a news release.
The district will award five $1,000 scholarships to seniors who live in the district’s service area, which also includes Dana Point and Capistrano Beach.
Students are eligible if they will be graduating from high school this year and entering a community college or four-year university. They also must demonstrate involvement in public service through volunteer work or environmental activities.
Candidates are required to write a 500-word essay about water from topics covered in the application.
For information and an application, visit scwd.org or call (949) 499-4555, Ext. 3139. Before applying, students are encouraged to call to verify that they live in the district’s service area.
Applications are due May 4.
