Chamber gets new director

Tamara Campbell is the Laguna Beach Chamber of Commerce’s new executive director, the organization announced in a news release.

She replaces Kristine Thalman, who retired after serving in the role for 2 1/2 years.

Campbell, a long-time Laguna resident who was involved with the city’s Heritage Committee, has already started in her new post.

Campbell has had extensive experience building strong local economies, promoting communities, representing business interests to city officials and engaging in political action for projects and programs, according to the release.

It adds: With more than 20 years of experience in city planning, Campbell has knowledge of city rules and regulations and has assisted businesses with city permitting procedures. She also brings experience in special event planning and grant, financial and budget management.

“We are confident that Tamara’s skills and experience will serve the Chamber of Commerce well, and we are glad to have her on board to execute the next level of exciting changes and oversee the development of great partnerships within the business community,” chamber President Larry Nokes said in the release.

Nokes was officially installed as president at the chamber’s Spirit of Laguna Awards on Jan. 31 at [seven-degrees].
