Our dear mother, friend and inspiration, Louise Emily Buckley, passed away April 3, 2015 with her daughter, Linda Buckley O’Neill and her son-in-law, John O’Neill at her bedside.

Born in Alberta Canada in 1921, raised in Fargo, North Dakota, Louise was a bright loving light to all who knew her. After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Women’s Army Corps in 1945, Louise and her husband, Edwin, joined the ranks of recently discharged GI’s who were instrumental to the growth of Southern California in the post-war years. In addition to building a successful career in the aerospace industry, followed by a career as a travel agent, Louise was a dedicated community volunteer, wife and mother. She resided in the San Fernando Valley until she retired in 1993 when she relocated to Laguna Beach. Mom became a well-known, cherished member of Laguna Beach contributing to organizations such as Laguna Beach Seniors, American Legion, Women’s Club, Exchange Club and Chamber of Commerce. She was a driving force behind the development and construction of the Susi Q.

Louise is predeceased by her parents, Louis and Flora Smith, siblings, Verdie, Virgina and Raymond and husband, Edwin Francis Buckley. She is survived by Linda Buckley O’Neill and John O’Neill, San Diego, Mary Buckley, Portland OR, grandsons, Sean and Justin Maung and numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will take place at Laguna Beach Presbyterian Church, 415 Forest Avenue in Laguna Beach on Saturday May 30 at 1:00pm. A reception will follow in Tankersley Hall at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Louise Buckley Memorial Fund at the Laguna Beach Seniors, 380 Third Street, Laguna Beach, CA 92651.
