Pedestrian struck and killed by vehicle during heavy rain

An unidentified female pedestrian was struck and killed by a sport utility vehicle as she crossed South Coast Highway in Laguna Beach during heavy rain Wednesday morning, authorities said.

The incident was reported about 6:40 a.m. near Thalia Street, said Lt. Jason Kravetz.

“We were getting a lot of rain at that time,” Kravetz said.

The accident was still under investigation, he said. No other information was available.
