‘Endless Summer’ DVD released
Monterey Media and Bruce Brown Films celebrated the official DVD release of Bruce Brown’s iconic film, “The Endless Summer,” re-mastered and restored, on Tuesday at the Pacific Edge Hotel in Laguna Beach. Attendees celebrated the release alongside Brown, surf legends Robert August, Dana Brown and Robert “Wingnut” Weaver, and Surf Heritage founder and Laguna Beach native Dick Metz.
“The Endless Summer” Director’s Special Edition 2-disc set comes in a specially packaged case featuring iconic artwork embossed and foiled.
“We are excited to be bringing ‘The Endless Summer’ to the generations of fans who have never seen this beautiful, lyrical film like it is now,” said Scott Mansfield, CEO and managing partner of Monterey Media. “We have rejuvenated and digitally re-mastered the film with 5.1 surround sound and it hasn’t looked this gorgeous since its original theatrical release so many years ago. Balancing the color and painstakingly removing over 80% of the film dirt was truly a labor of love.”

Allergan gives grant to clinic
Adriana Nieto-Sayegh, clinical director for the Laguna Beach Community Clinic, announced that the clinic has received a grant from the Allergan Foundation to support the Urgent Care for Disadvantaged Women’s Program.
“This program serves women who are uninsured or under-insured, and it is the only program doing so in the southern half of Orange County,” said Nieto-Sayegh
“Fifty-three percent of our patients are women and many of them would go without medical care of any kind were it not for the clinic’s services,” she said.
“In addition to our urgent care program, we also offer a full range of medical services including pre-natal and post-partum care, diabetic care and dental services, and an HIV/AIDS program. A weakened economy along with loss of jobs and medical insurance has increased the demands on our services during the past year.”
The mission of the Laguna Beach Community Clinic is to provide medical care to all individuals regardless of their ability to pay. The clinic is at 362 Third St., Laguna Beach. For more information, call (949) 497-0761.
