Community Thanksgiving feast set

Laguna Beach’s traditional non-denominational Community Thanksgiving Feast will be held at the Neighborhood Congregational Church, 340 St. Ann’s Drive, Laguna Beach.

The Community Thanksgiving began as an effort to serve the needy but grew to an inclusive celebration with friends and neighbors bringing their favorite dish to share. Volunteers prepare bag lunches that are distributed to the needy to take with them for a later meal. Attendees are encouraged to share a dessert or side dish and, this year, to contribute to an estimated 600 to 700 meals that will be served.

A special appeal is being made this year for volunteers willing to stay after the meal is finished to clear the tables and to return the dining area to its pre-feast condition. The feast begins at noon, with set-up at 11 a.m. To volunteer or sign up to provide a turkey, contact Taylor Mathieson at Friendship Shelter, (949) 494-6928.
