Soka graduate publishes first book of trilogy
A graduate of Soka University of America has joined the ranks of published authors.
“Shatter Me,” by Tahereh Mafi, 23, will go on sale Nov. 15. The novel is the first in a trilogy.
The book tells “the story of Juliette, a girl who has the ability to kill people with a single touch and a crumbling government that wants to use her as a weapon,” according to a news release from the university.
Mafi has also sold the film rights to the book to 20th Century Fox.
Soka University will host a book launch and signing party for Mafi from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Nov. 16 in Ikeda Library’s fourth-floor reading room.
Mafi graduated from Soka in 2009.
The school is at 1 University Drive, Aliso Viejo.
