Woman hurt in canyon crash

One woman was injured after her car veered off Bluebird Canyon Road on Sunday.

The Laguna Beach Fire Department responded about 1 p.m. to the vehicle, which had rolled off the roadway into an interior canyon.

Division Chief Dan Stefano said the rescue was especially difficult due to the fact that it was in the bottom of the canyon, and the firefighters had to work through large portions of poison oak to get to the wreckage.

The woman was treated at the scene and taken to Mission Hospital Mission Viejo, where she was in fair condition.

“Given the magnitude of potential for a fatality or severe casualty on this type of incident, we are all fortunate that this crash did not result in a more devastating outcome,” Stefano said.
