Teen sentenced to year in jail after stabbing

A 17-year-old Laguna Beach boy will serve a year in jail after pleading guilty to a stabbing — the result of a feud with another teen that boiled over on Facebook.

Michael Jason Wilson, who was charged as an adult, pleaded guilty Monday to felony assault with a deadly weapon with a sentencing enhancement for inflicting great bodily harm, according to a news release from the Orange County district attorney’s office.

The March 11, 2010, stabbing took place at Wilson’s home after his 17-year-old former classmate, identified only as Julian C. in court proceedings, agreed to meet Wilson.

Julian C., who was accompanied by three other friends, drove to Wilson’s house to confront him, prosecutors said.

Authorities said that’s when Wilson, then 16, stabbed Julian C. in the stomach with a 12-inch carving knife.

The three friends ran out of a car to help, and two of them suffered cuts in their arms and hands, according to the release.

Julian C. underwent surgery and spent a week in the hospital, prosecutors said. Another boy also required surgery on his injured hand.

In addition to one year in jail, Wilson was sentenced Monday to three years of probation. A message left with Wilson’s attorney, Paul Meyer, was not immediately returned.
