Animal Crackers fundraiser at Marine Room

Friends of Animal Crackers, a pet rescue organization in Laguna Beach, will hold a fundraiser from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. July 8 at the Marine Room Tavern, 214 Ocean Ave.

The fundraiser will help with the cost of taking in animals that other shelters cannot care for and are in danger of being euthanized, according to a news release from founder Gina Kantzabedian. Animals are not euthanized at Animal Crackers.

“The harsh reality is, not killing animals is a very costly proposition,” Kantzabedian said, according to the release. “In one way or another, difficult-to-place dogs and cats are disposed of even at supposedly ‘no kill’ shelters, which breaks my heart and misleads the public.”

Kantzabedian founded Animal Crackers about 20 years ago. The organization pays for vaccinations, spaying and neutering, and other medical bills for the dogs and cats that are taken in.

The fundraiser has a suggested donation of $25, with food, a no-host bar, silent auction and raffle. Reservations are not necessary. For more information, call (949) 315-0810 or (949) 494-6309. Direct contributions can be sent to Lisette Chel, P.O. Box 1206, Laguna Beach, CA 92852.
