Needlework shop marks 20 years

Strands and Stitches will celebrate its 20th anniversary from noon to 5 p.m. Saturday.

The store, at 1516 S. Coast Hwy. is owned by locals Doña Harman, Lisa Triebwasser and Cindy Hartman, assisted by Willa Cather and Eileen Ross.

“Anyone who wishes us a happy anniversary before a purchase of yarn or a needlework canvas is rung up will receive a 10% discount on Saturday,” Harman said.

Mira Cole of Baah! Yarns will attend the event and teach a one-hour class on her popular peacock shawl design, starting at 4 p.m. in the garden behind the shop. Two of Cole’s long-time designers will offer needlework tips from noon to 2:30 p.m.

Light refreshments will be served.
