The Laguna Beach Police Department will conduct a crosswalk enforcement campaign along Coast Highway and Glenneyre Street from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, according to a police department news release.

Traffic officers will monitor the crossings for drivers who fail to stop when a pedestrian is present, and then take appropriate action against them.

Drivers must yield to pedestrians in the crosswalks, according to police department. They also cannot pass another vehicle that has stopped in an adjacent lane.

Laguna has 37 crosswalks along Coast Highway, and too many accidents happen each year involving motorists who fail to stop for pedestrians in crosswalks, the release said.
