Police beefing up patrols for Cinco de Mayo
Laguna Beach Police Department will increase its patrol staff for Cinco de Mayo on Saturday, according to a release.
Similar to other holiday weekends, the department is attempting to curb alcohol-related crashes, injuries and possible fatalities by saturating the city with additional officers to identify drunk drivers and get them off the streets.
Laguna Beach police asks motorists to plan prior to festivities and before alcohol is consumed. They recommend a designated driver or taking a taxi, public transportation or calling a sober friend for help. If someone seems intoxicated, they ask that friends take their keys and help them get home safely.
Call 911 to report a drunk driver.
