City Council Meeting Wrap-Up
The following is from the April 5 meeting of the Laguna Beach City Council.

Time extension approved, 3-2; compliance with state building code required, 5-0
The council denied an appeal of Design Review Board approval for a time extension for a project at 31696 Seacliff Drive to be approved. Rollinger and Iseman opposed the extension.
Appellants based their appeal on an ordinance adopted by the council in December, which they believed changed the zoning code, negating one of the board’s required legal justifications, called a finding, for the extension.
However, Community Development Director John Montgomery said the zoning codes and standards applicable to the project had not materially changed.
In a separate vote, the council unanimously required the property owners to comply with all provisions of Section 3307 of the California Building Code related to the issuance of a building permit.
WHAT IT MEANS
The property owner has until Jan. 6, 2013, to get Design Review Board approval and a Costal Development Permit for the project.
