Register for free spay/neuter for your pets

Laguna Beach pet owners can get their pets spayed or neutered for free if they register between April 15 and April 30.

The program is open only to Laguna Beach or Laguna Woods residents. It is sponsored by PUP (Protecting Unwanted Pets) Laguna Beach, with support from Laguna Beach Animal Hospital, Aliso Beach Animal Clinic, Arch Beach Animal Hospital and more.

Pets will be evaluated by a veterinarian, and additional charges may apply if the animal requires extra medical attention.

There is a maximum of two pets per household.

Local’s Night at Katsuya extended through May

Katsuya by S+ARCK in Laguna Beach is extending its Local’s Night discount through May 28, the restaurant announced this week.

Every Monday, Laguna Beach locals will receive 50% off their bill. The promotion had been scheduled to stop at the end of March.

Community Foundation adds two trustees

The Laguna Beach Community Foundation welcomes its two new trustees: Maya Dunne and Robin Hall.

The new board of trustees members are both long-time residents of Laguna Beach.

Dunne has experience in grantmaking and working with families to set up charitable giving, according to a news release from the foundation.

“My 25 years of experience with nonprofits, charitable donors and corporations have given me an insight into philanthropy that I am looking forward to sharing with the Laguna Beach Community Foundation,” Dunne said in a statement.

Hall has a financial background and is a partner at Hall & Jones, CPA.

“With more than 30 years experience working with nonprofit financials as well as corporate and closely held businesses, I am excited about helping with the financial structure of the community foundation,” Hall said in a statement.

Glennwood House gets $500,000 donation

The Glennwood Housing Foundation has received a $500,000 donation from Jacob Voogd.

He has already pledged $1.9 million to help renovate the Glennwood House, which will house young adults ages 18 to 45 with special needs, according to a news release from the foundation.

Angel donations, which are gifts from $25,000 to more than $1 million, include room naming opportunities. Voogd will have the dining room named in memory of his wife, Joanne. She always hoped for a place where people with developmental disabilities, like the Voogds’ granddaughter, could get help and gain independence.

Remodeling plans for Glennwood House are finished and are being submitted for city approval.

The Glennwood Housing Foundation and Laguna Beach Community Foundation encourage community members to donate to the project by sending a check to Laguna Beach Foundation/Glennwood House Fund, P.O. 1628, Laguna Beach, CA 92652.

The Glennwood House is at 2130 S. Coast Hwy.
