Police said they responded at 7:04 p.m. after receiving several calls of a fight at the park, located at 521 Main St., involving three males. Both the suspect and victim had sustained injuries, and the victim was transferred to a local hospital for treatment of a stab wound.
An arrest was made during the course of the investigation for assault with a deadly weapon. But officials said they aren’t releasing names of the involved parties or specific details due to the ongoing investigation.
A family member of the victim, who requested anonymity due to fear of repercussions, said Monday that the man, a Huntington Beach resident, was in the hospital with a collapsed lung, torn diaphragm and a fractured rib.
The case has been assigned to the Huntington Beach Police Department Crimes Against Persons Unit. After an investigation, it will be forwarded to the Orange County district attorney for review.
